About the Presenter:
Walter McKenzie is a lifelong learner, teacher, leader and connector making use of technology in education. He is a strong proponent of using social media technologies to transform organizations as they strive to meet the needs of their members in the twenty-first century.
McKenzie served twenty-five years in Massachusetts and Virginia public schools: fourteen years as a classroom teacher and eleven years as a district trainer, coordinator, director and assistant superintendent. He also served as a training specialist for the Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington, D.C. and its field offices around the nation.
In addition to his work in public schools in public education, McKenzie is an internationally known author and presenter on Multiple Intelligences theory and instructional technology, and he has authored several books on these subjects. He has been instrumental in launching and leading online professional development programs and post-graduate professional education courses around the country, and he has actively facilitated online educator communities and web-based interdisciplinary instructional projects over the past fifteen years.
McKenzie served as president of the Massachusetts Computer Using Educators and led the movement to form the first regional affiliate of the International Society for Technology in Education, the New England Society for Technology in Education, comprised of all six New England states. Similarly in Virginia, McKenzie led the formation of the Capital Region Society for Technology in Education, a second regional affiliate to promote communication, collaboration and an economy of scale for the District of Columbia and the states of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina.
He has participated in the Annenberg Project’s “The Arts in Every Classroom” project and the Kennedy Center’s “Changing Education through the Arts” program, and is a strong proponent of reaching and teaching the whole child to ensure success for every student. He holds a bachelor’s degree in early and middle childhood education from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis on instructional technology from George Mason University.

Welcome to the annual connecting online live online conference (CO11). You are cordially invited to participate at the live online conference on the weekend of Feb 4-6 2011.
The conference will be of interest to educators, administrators, students, and community members who value the importance of integrating technology into the curriculum to improve instruction and learning. Online learning involves various skills on the part of the instructor and learner. These include social and communication skills, social networking, independent learning strategies, critical and higher order thinking skills, creativity, and effective online and face-to-face facilitation. In addition, there are may challenges that the educators, administrators, students, and community members face.
The CO11 will be conducted on IT4ALL Moodle with the presentations on WiZiQ through the Moodle.
