Research on a Moodle Course in Guyana with Arti Harricharran & Lenandlar Singh

In August 2014, the Language Centre, University of Guyana, commenced teaching one of the largest courses on campus – Use of English (ENG 1105) - online via MOODLE. Since this marked the beginning of online teaching at the university, a pilot approach was adopted. The 1247 students who were registered for this course was offered an option to do this course online; 260 students volunteered to participate in the online course.

This presentation shares preliminary findings and analysis of the lecturer and students experiences with the online version of the course.

Arti Harricharran is a lecturer in the Department of Language at the University of Guyana and Lenandlar Singh is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Guyana teaches computer science and information technology/systems. His research interest is in the area of learning technologies.

Moodle MOOC 6 (MM6) takes place from May 1 - 31, 2015 on WizIQ and Moodle for Teachers .The theme of the current MOOC is collaborative learning, reflective practice, and connecting online for instruction and learning by experiencing the process through active learning or teaching as a way to learn. Certificates are available to those who reflect and share.
