About the Presentation

In this presentation, Clarisa will introduce various ways to use innovative and engaging technology in the classroom. The techniques described apply to a variety of different levels of students and can be used in many different grades. The reason for creating this presentation is to equip educators with different ways of reaching out to their students so that the learning is interactive, engaging, and meaningful. She hase done research in order to discover the methods and extent in which teachers use technology in the classroom, and a surprising amount are either not familiar with or do not have appropriate access to the Web 2.0 technologies that could enhance classroom instruction. Therefore, the contents of this presentation are extremely relevant, current, and informative. Clarisa will encourage the exchange of information, conversation, questions, and feedback. She believes the many tools she will present for teachers of varying classroom environments will be exciting, useful, and will show teachers that technology can easily be integrated into teaching.

About the Presenter

As a senior at Mount Saint Mary College (class of 2014), being a mathematics major is very exciting with new discoveries and challenges every day. Clarisa Rosario currently holds an Associate's Degree in Business Administration from SUNY Orange (Class of 2007). She is also a Fall 2010 Dean's List student. She has student taught in Balmville Elementary School (Grade 1) and Meadow Hill Global Explorations Magnet School (Grade 4). Both experiences were extremely rewarding and very insightful. Her other educational experiences include working as a Paraprofessional in Valley Central School District (Special Education 15:1:1) and tutoring a 4th grader as well as two 2nd graders in math for the 2012-2013 school year. She loves the many different ways technology can be integrated into the classroom curriculum, and Clarisa is continuing to learn more.

Additionally, she participated in a summer research assignment describing the effectiveness of Web 2.0 technology use in the classroom (Mount Saint Mary College). Clarisa kept a blog during the project (www.teachingwithtechnologysure2013.blogspot.com) as well as making a Prezi (online presentation) regarding the conclusions of the research entitled 'Engaging Students in the Classroom With Web 2.0'.
