Presentation: A Brief Tour of Mount Orange High School -an international Moodle School
Presentation: One drawback of Virtual Learning Environments like Moodle is that because of student privacy issues you can't easily go in and take a look around. Mount Orange is Moodle's response to this: it's a real Moodle site with real courses for students aged 8 to 18 with real student data and real (fake) students and teachers. And the school is open to anyone! This presentation will take you on a tour of the school, introduce you to some of the staff and students ,show you the latest Moodle features, how Moodle is used in different subjects and hopefully encourage you to encourage others to go and pay us a visit!
Presenter: Mary Cooch has been teaching for 28 years at Our Lady's Catholic High School Preston NW England, Mary has been using Moodle with 9 - 16 year olds in Modern Foreign Languages, Geography and IT since 2006. The author of Moodle for Teaching 7 -1 4 Year Olds and Moodle 2 First Look (the first ever book on Moodle 2) Mary now works for Moodle as Documentation Fairy, helping Moodle Community Manager Helen Foster keep the documentation up to date for every Moodle version, curate the forums and bridge the gap between teachers and developers.
Great idea on how to make a Moodle course exciting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtHPUh_BaxM&feature=share&list=TLtGz-HcXWFRw
